SAICA 2009 concludes successfully addresing the question: Can we control climate change?

The Seminar for Advanced Industrial Control Applications (SAICA), took place on the 16th and 17th November 2009 in Madrid under the main theme “Energy Efficiency, Emission Reduction and Sustainability”.

The Joint Spanish Chapter of Control Systems Society (CSS) and Industrial Applications Society (IAS) wishes to sincerely thank all the participants,  organisers and sponsors of SAICA 2009 for the tremendous support which undoubtedly resulted in the event being such a success.

In this age of Climate Change, when the need to reduce energy consumption and emissions poses great technical challenges for both industry and academia, SAICA has renewed efforts to bring both together to help confront the problems.
During the two days, the enormous potential for advanced control to help meet these challenges was examined and underlined in the presentations, debates and round table discussions.

Industry and Academia have come together every two years in SAICA to collaborate for mutual benefit and for the benefit of society as a whole. In this latest event, people from industrial, academic and political backgrounds made considerable progress in addressing the question:

Can we control climate change ?

For more information on the event, click here.

SAICA 2009 has closed until the next seminar; SAICA 2011, hoping that the time shared with us  has been motivating and memorable.

SAICA 2009 Launches!

SAICA 2009 is now up and running, and the countdown to the event has begun!  Learn more about this bi-annual event which in 2007 attracted 100 professional from 14 different countries and 46 unique organizations to Madrid, to share knowledge and discuss the launch of potential projects in the area of advanced industrial control applications.

Who should attend? Professional from industry, researchers and students who have a keen interest in advanced industrial control applications.

How is the event structured?  A 2-day event that takes place in the Madrid at the Gomez Pardo Foundation facilities, which features an interactive format of application presentations by industrial leaders and innovative researchers, poster sessions that feature recent work in both the industrial and academic arenas, and ample networking and interactive sessions that are intended to spark debate and potential real-world projects.  Since the event takes place on a Monday and Tuesday, fly into Madrid early and enjoy the local sites and sounds before the formal event begins on Monday morning.

What industries processes are most relevant at SAICA 2009? Chemical/petrochemical, steel production, energy generation, eletrical machinery, aeronautics, robotics, water and environmental, and cement production.

What are some of the top organizations who previously participated? Emerson Process Management, Aspentech Technologies, National Instruments, Siemens AG, Endesa, Bosch, Repsol YPF, General Electric, URASM-CSC, Russian Academy of Science, American University of Beirut, Kangwon University, Auburn University, University of Zaragoza, and many more.

What does it cost? SAICA is one of the most affordable events on the IEEE 2009 roster of events globally.  Enrol before May 30 and enjoy the reduced price of 145€, after May 30 all participants pay 290€.  Full-time master or PhD students in the area of industrial control applications enjoy a reduced rate fee of 80€ right up until the opening day of SAICA 2009.  To enroll, download the attached form here and return via email to ias-css.spain@ieee.org or sign-up online here.
